Chocolate Pie

Servings:

  • Makes 8 servings

Ingredients:

For the Pie Crust:

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)

For the Chocolate Filling:

  • 200g dark chocolate (around 70% cocoa)
  • 1 ¼ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For Topping:

  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (optional)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Crust:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs and granulated sugar. Stir in melted butter until well combined.
    • Press the mixture into the bottom and sides of a pie dish to form the crust.
    • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool completely.
  2. Make the Chocolate Filling:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture begins to simmer (do not let it boil).
    • Remove from heat and add dark chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
    • Whisk in the eggs, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  3. Bake the Pie:

    • Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled pie crust.
    • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
    • Remove from the oven and let the pie cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours to set fully.
  4. Serve:

    • Before serving, top the pie with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or a light dusting of cocoa powder if desired.
