Chicken Cheese Fry

Ingredients (Serves 4):

For the Chicken:

  • 500 g (1 lb) boneless chicken breast, cut into thin strips
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

For the Batter:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup cold water (adjust for consistency)

For Frying and Coating:

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup mozzarella or cheddar cheese, grated
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:

    • In a bowl, mix the chicken strips with soy sauce, vinegar, garlic paste, ginger paste, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Batter:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornflour, baking powder, egg, and cold water. Whisk until you get a smooth, medium-thick batter.
  3. Coat the Chicken:

    • Dip the marinated chicken strips into the batter.
    • Roll each strip in breadcrumbs and press grated cheese onto the surface to coat them evenly.
  4. Fry the Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a deep pan or wok to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry the coated chicken strips in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
    • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve hot with ketchup, ranch, or a spicy mayo dip. Garnish with parsley or spring onions for added flavor.
