Chicken Cheese Fry
Ingredients (Serves 4):
For the Chicken:
- 500 g (1 lb) boneless chicken breast, cut into thin strips
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
- Salt to taste
For the Batter:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornflour (cornstarch)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup cold water (adjust for consistency)
For Frying and Coating:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup mozzarella or cheddar cheese, grated
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Marinate the Chicken:
- In a bowl, mix the chicken strips with soy sauce, vinegar, garlic paste, ginger paste, red chili powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
Prepare the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornflour, baking powder, egg, and cold water. Whisk until you get a smooth, medium-thick batter.
Coat the Chicken:
- Dip the marinated chicken strips into the batter.
- Roll each strip in breadcrumbs and press grated cheese onto the surface to coat them evenly.
Fry the Chicken:
- Heat oil in a deep pan or wok to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the coated chicken strips in batches for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve:
- Serve hot with ketchup, ranch, or a spicy mayo dip. Garnish with parsley or spring onions for added flavor.
