Chicken Pizza
Ingredients:
Dough:
- 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F or 45°C)
- 3 ½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Topping:
- 1 cup cooked chicken breast (shredded or chopped)
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup red onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup bell peppers, thinly sliced (optional)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil (for brushing)
- Fresh basil (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
Dough:
- Activate Yeast: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine 3 ½ cups flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead Dough: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth. Add extra flour if too sticky.
- Let It Rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Roll Out: Punch down, roll to desired thickness, and prepare for toppings.
Topping:
- Preheat Oven: Heat to 475°F (245°C).
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the dough onto a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Assemble Pizza:
- Spread pizza sauce over the dough.
- Add shredded mozzarella, then top with chicken, onions, and bell peppers.
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Drizzle a little olive oil over the toppings.
- Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes or until cheese melts and crust is golden.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh basil and slice to serve.
