Imli Ki Chutney – Tangy & Sweet Tamarind Sauce

Imli ki chutney is a flavorful, tangy, and slightly sweet condiment that enhances the taste of snacks like samosas, pakoras, and chaat. It’s a must-have for iftar and adds the perfect balance of sweetness, spice, and tanginess to any dish.


Ingredients (Makes ~1 Cup)

  • ½ cup tamarind pulp (imli)
  • ½ cup jaggery or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon black salt
  • ½ teaspoon regular salt
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon ginger powder
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds (optional)

How to Make It

  1. In a pan, add tamarind pulp, water, and jaggery. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  2. Add roasted cumin powder, black salt, regular salt, red chili powder, and ginger powder.
  3. Let it simmer for 8-10 minutes until the chutney thickens.
  4. Strain the chutney to remove any tamarind fibers.
  5. Allow it to cool and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
