Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter: ½ cup (113g), melted
  • Granulated sugar: 1 cup (200g)
  • Light brown sugar: ½ cup (100g), packed
  • Large eggs: 2
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • All-purpose flour: ¾ cup (95g)
  • Cocoa powder: ½ cup (50g), unsweetened
  • Salt: ¼ teaspoon
  • Dark chocolate chips or chunks: ½ cup (85g), optional
  • Almonds optional

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch (20x20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.
    • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until the mixture is thick and glossy.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients:

    • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  4. Make the Batter:

    • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
    • If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.
  5. Bake the Brownies:

    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking for fudgy brownies.
  6. Cool and Serve:

    • Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
