Chicken Shashlik
Ingredients:
- 500g boneless chicken breast or thighs (cut into cubes)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1 bell pepper (sliced)
- 1 tomato (sliced)
- 1 tbsp garlic (minced)
- 1 tbsp ginger (minced)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp oil (for grilling)
- Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Directions:
Prepare the marinade:
- In a large bowl, combine the garlic, ginger, lemon juice, yogurt, soy sauce, chili powder, paprika, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
Marinate the chicken:
- Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, making sure each piece is well-coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for a stronger flavor.
Prepare the vegetables:
- Slice the onion, bell pepper, and tomato into thick chunks. These will be threaded onto the skewers along with the chicken.
Assemble the skewers:
- Thread the marinated chicken cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating with pieces of onion, bell pepper, and tomato.
Grill the shashlik:
- Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the skewers with a little oil to prevent sticking.
- Grill the chicken shashlik for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred on the edges.
Serve:
- Serve the Chicken Shashlik with naan, rice, or a side salad, and drizzle with a squeeze of lemon juice.
