Basic Garden Sauce
This Basic Garden Sauce is perfect for pizza, pasta, or any dish that needs a burst of fresh, homemade flavor! With a medley of vegetables and herbs, it’s simple to make and adds the perfect base to your favorite meals.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup mushrooms, chopped
- 1 can (29 oz) stewed tomatoes
- 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/8 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
Directions:
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 1 minute.
- Add the green bell pepper and sauté for an additional 3 minutes.
- Stir in the mushrooms and cook until tender.
- Add the stewed tomatoes, tomato paste, garlic, basil, oregano, bay leaf, sugar, and hot pepper sauce.
- Simmer the sauce for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to mix all the flavors.
- Remove the bay leaf before using the sauce on your pizza, pasta, or favorite dish.
