Hawaiian Pizza

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup diced pineapple (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup cooked chicken chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.

2. Preheat and Prep:

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.

3. Assemble the Pizza:

  1. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  2. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  3. Add the chicken and pineapple chunks on top of the cheese. Sprinkle with dried oregano if desired.

4. Bake the Pizza:

  1. Transfer the pizza (on parchment paper) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
  2. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

5. Serve:

  1. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  2. Slice into wedges and serve warm.
