Hawaiian Pizza
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm water (110°F/45°C)
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Toppings:
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup diced pineapple (fresh or canned, drained)
- 1 cup cooked chicken chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
2. Preheat and Prep:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle. Transfer to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.
3. Assemble the Pizza:
- Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
- Add the chicken and pineapple chunks on top of the cheese. Sprinkle with dried oregano if desired.
4. Bake the Pizza:
- Transfer the pizza (on parchment paper) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
5. Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Slice into wedges and serve warm.
