Bhuna Gosht
A rich and flavorful slow-cooked meat dish, Bhuna Hua Gosht is a traditional favorite with deep, aromatic spices and a thick, well-browned gravy. Perfect for pairing with naan or rice!
Ingredients:
- 1 kg mutton or beef
- 2 onions, chopped
- 3 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 big black cardamoms
- 6 black peppercorns
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- ½ cup yogurt
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 5 tablespoons cooking oil
- 4 green chilies, chopped
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Sauté the Onions & Meat:
- Heat oil in a heavy-based pot.
- Add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
- Add the meat and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cook with Spices:
- Mix in all the spices, ginger-garlic paste, yogurt, and tomatoes.
- Stir well and cook until the tomatoes soften and the water from them evaporates.
Tenderize the Meat:
- Add 2 cups of water, cover, and let it cook on low heat until the meat is tender.
- Increase the heat to evaporate any remaining water, stirring continuously to achieve a well-browned, thick consistency.
Garnish & Serve:
- Garnish with chopped green chilies and fresh coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with naan, roti, or steamed rice.
