Karahi Gosht

Looking for a classic and rich curry? Karahi Gosht is a must-try! Made with tender beef or mutton, aromatic spices, and a luscious tomato-based gravy, this dish is perfect for Eid feasts, family dinners, or whenever you crave a comforting meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg beef or mutton (bone-in for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic ginger paste
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoons red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3 large onions, finely sliced
  • 2 large tomatoes, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • 4-5 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, julienned
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 cups water
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 tablespoon cumin powder
  • 1 tablespoon dhaniya powder

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pot. Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add garlic ginger paste and stir for a minute until fragrant.
  3. Add beef or mutton, salt, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Sear the meat for 5-7 minutes until it changes color.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and yogurt. Stir well and let it cook on low flame until the meat is tender and the water evaporates (around 45-60 minutes). Add water if needed.
  5. Sprinkle garam masala, zeera and dhaniya mix well.
  6. Turn off the heat, add green chilies, ginger slices, and fresh coriander. Cover with a lid and let it sit for 5 minutes to infuse flavors.
  7. Serve hot with naan or roti!

Pro Tips:

✔ Use fresh, ripe tomatoes for a naturally rich gravy.
✔ For extra depth, cook on low heat to allow flavors to develop.
✔ Pair with raita and fresh salad for a complete meal!
