Ingredients
For the Tikka:
- Chicken (boneless, cubed): 500g
- Yogurt: 1/2 cup
- Red chili powder: 1 teaspoon
- Ginger garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
- Cumin powder: 1 teaspoon
- All-spice powder (garam masala): 1/2 teaspoon
- Lemon juice: 3 tablespoons
- Salt: to taste
- Butter or oil: as needed
For the Gravy:
- Tomatoes (chopped): 2 medium
- Onion (chopped): 1 medium
- Ginger garlic paste: 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk: 1/2 cup
- Sugar: 1 teaspoon
- Salt: to taste
- Oil: 2 tablespoons
Directions
Preparing the Tikka:
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, red chili powder, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, all-spice powder, lemon juice, and salt.
- Coat the chicken pieces evenly in the marinade and let it sit for at least 1 hour.
- Grill the chicken over a hot grill or stovetop pan until golden brown. Brush with butter frequently to keep it tender and moist.
Preparing the Gravy:
- Heat oil in a pan and add ginger garlic paste. Sauté until fragrant.
- Add chopped onions and cook on high heat until they turn golden brown.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft, stirring occasionally. Continue frying until oil separates.
- Mix in cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and sugar. Stir well.
- Add the grilled chicken tikka and let it simmer for 5 minutes on low heat.
- Increase the heat and slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously.
- Once the gravy thickens to the desired consistency, turn off the heat.
Serve hot with plain rice or naan for a delicious, restaurant-style meal!
