Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

Servings:

  • Serves 4-6 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Optional: chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)

Directions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare Dry Ingredients:

    • In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir to mix and set aside.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients:

    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and white sugar using a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
    • Add vanilla extract and egg, mixing until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:

    • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
    • Stir in chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
  5. Bake the Cookie:

    • Transfer the cookie dough into a greased or parchment-lined cast iron skillet (about 8 inches).
    • Press the dough evenly into the skillet, making sure to spread it to the edges.
  6. Bake:

    • Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown, and the center is just set. The top should be slightly firm to the touch.
  7. Serve:

    • Let the cookie cool slightly before cutting into wedges.
    • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce if desired.
