Cumin Biscuits (Zeera Biscuits)
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour (190 g)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (113 g)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (30 g)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds (slightly toasted)
- 2–3 tbsp milk (as needed for binding)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Ingredients:
- Toast the cumin seeds lightly in a dry pan for 1-2 minutes until aromatic. Let them cool.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Make the Dough:
- In a bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
- Sift in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the toasted cumin seeds and mix gently.
- Gradually add milk (1 tablespoon at a time) and knead into a soft dough. Do not over-knead.
3. Shape the Biscuits:
- Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Use a cookie cutter or knife to cut out shapes as desired.
- Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between them.
4. Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
5. Serve:
- Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee! Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
