Namkeen Gosht
Ingredients:
- 1 kg Beef, cubed (lean, approx. 800g after trimming)
- Salt, to taste (approx. 1-2 teaspoons)
- Black pepper, ½ teaspoon
- Beef fat/Suet, 1 cup (approx. 200g)
- Lemon, 2-3 sliced
- Onion, 1 sliced
Directions:
- In a large pot, combine all ingredients: beef, salt, black pepper, beef fat, lemon slices, and onion.
- Cook over low heat, covered, until the meat is tender and cooked through. This may take several hours, depending on the cut of beef. Check periodically and add a little water if necessary to prevent burning. The meat should cook in its own juices and the rendered fat.
- Once cooked, remove the lemon slices and onion (optional).
- Serve hot with extra lemon wedges and sliced onion, if desired.
