Sweet and Sour Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup (120ml) pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
- 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
- 2 tbsp (30ml) ketchup
- 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce
- 1 tbsp (8g) cornstarch
- 2 tbsp (30ml) water
Instructions
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine pineapple juice, vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and soy sauce. Stir well.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
- Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Serve warm with your favorite dishes, such as chicken, pork, shrimp, or vegetables.
