Sweet and Sour Sauce


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) rice vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (8g) cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine pineapple juice, vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and soy sauce. Stir well.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
  4. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  5. Once the sauce reaches your desired consistency, remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite dishes, such as chicken, pork, shrimp, or vegetables.
